The American stereotypes don’t stop! In this video I respond to fast food stereotypes and geography accusations.
I went on Facebook, an internet forum, and a blogging platform and asked various non-Americans about the American stereotypes and rumors they’ve heard or shared. I wanted to collect as much as I could and respond to them in a video. I give my own opinions at first, and then do a little research for factual information at the bottom of the video — that is, if facts are needed.
In this video I respond to the following statement:
“you have comically giant fast food dishes”
“you all have some case of collective geographic dyslexia”
“i’ve noticed a common ideological streak to do with obsession over the sanctity of private property, especially the home; the default attitude of ‘leaving people alone’ when thinking or speaking about something; and thinking in terms of self-sustaining units as opposed to parts of a community (like: how you all think of 18/21 as the ages where parental support should be severed or marginalised, how it’s normal to only see the family on Christmas and thanksgiving etc.)”
I will continue doing these as one of my American-based features in the future. It would be best if you’re not from the United States of America when adding stereotypes. And don’t forget to share this with your non-American friends so they can add some stereotypes as well!
